ON TOWN MEETING DAY ON MARCH 7, VOTE THE UNION LINE IN BURLINGTON, VERMONT – VOTE FOR THE PROGRESSIVE PARTY SLATE FOR CITY COUNCIL!

The VT AFL-CIO is again endorsing the Vermont Progressive Party slate in Burlington City Council elections.  We ask that all Burlington Union members go to the polls on March 7 and vote the Union line in support of Progressive candidates.

Since the Vermont AFL-CIO began partnering with the Progressives in 2020, we have helped make this democratic socialist, pro-Union Party the largest in the Queen’s City. In turn the Progressive Party was instrumental in helping to pass the Responsible Contractor Ordinance in our largest city (which provides prevailing wages for construction workers on all major public building projects).  The Progressives on City Council also supported Local 1343 and Organized Labor generally when we demanded and achieved the removal of an abusive airport director.  And they were also not afraid to show their support for us on the 2020 informational picket held by City workers who refused to open their Contracts to give back raises or face layoffs (two threats that were beaten back by Labor).

The Vermont AFL-CIO knows that the national Democratic and Republican Parties are no friend of Union workers, and we recognize that it is the responsibility of Labor to build pro-Union alternatives to the capitalist parties.  It was for this reason that we were proud the support the VT Progressive Party slate in the statewide General Election in 2022 and to also help get Progressive David Zuckerman elected to Lt. Governor. And thus we once again call on our rank & file to go to the polls on March 7 and send Progressives to the City Council. Together We Are UNION STRONG!
