Vermont Agency of Natural Resources issued the following announcement.
Staff highlight! John has worked for decades with Vermont Fish & Wildlife on waterfowl surveys and banding, and in habitat maintenance and enhancement in wildlife management areas. He supported the effort to see bald eagles delisted from the endangered species list through nest monitoring (and even discovered several of the first eagle nests at Dead Creek).
From John: I get to work with a terrific group of great staff on many great projects. I am happiest when my job includes variety and especially handling or monitoring wildlife, from waterfowl to deer or bear. The end of a good day at work finds me a little scratched, muddy, bloody, and smelling like the wildlife I got to work with. Each year I especially look forward to capturing and banding geese in the summer and ducks in early fall.Â
It’s part of our Agency’s Earth Day tradition to name a handful of our colleagues as “Earth Day Heroes” — folks doing great work to steward Vermont’s natural resources for all to enjoy. For the next few days we’ll be featuring this year’s Earth Day Heroes!
