Vermont Agency of Natural Resources issued the following announcement.
Today's Earth Day Hero is Andrea, whose job with Vermont Fish & Wildlife has her working with Vermont’s private landowners to engage them in thinking about how to integrate habitat improvement into the use and management of their land.
From Andrea: My job is really enjoyable because I get to nerd out on different topics every day depending on what the landowner is interested in: some days it’s about a land ethic; some days it’s all invasive plants; some days it’s how wildlife moves through their land; and some days it’s the land use history of that property. I really like the quote attributed to a Wisconsin biologist named Doug Duren that goes: “It’s not ours, just our turn.” It’s a good perspective on stewardship, conservation, and the work that we all spend so much time and energy on.
It's part of our Agency's Earth Day tradition to name a handful of our colleagues as "Earth Day Heroes" -- folks doing great work to steward Vermont's natural resources for all to enjoy. For the next few days we'll be featuring this year's Earth Day Heroes!
