Vermont State Labor Council AFL-CIO issued the following announcement.
VERMONT FEDERATION OF NURSES & ALLIED PROFESSIONALS-AFT RALLY FOR A FAIR CONTRACT & SAFE STAFFING LEVELS AT UVM MEDICAL CENTER, BURLINGTON
Today dozens of Nurses from UVM Medical Center (members of the Vermont Federation of Nurses & Allied Professionals-AFT) rallied outside the hospital in Burlington to support a fair contract. Among the demands were for the hospital administration to agree to safe staffing levels & a $20 an hour minimum wage for support staff. While the rally was underway, the Nurse's union bargaining team was inside negotiating with management for new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Supporting the rally were members of Vermont AFL-CIO Executive Board (including VP Katie Harris), AFSCME, IATSE, and UE.
The Vermont AFL-CIO, without hesitation, stands with our union Nurses at UVMMC and joins in the public demand that the hospital do right by its staff, all essential workers, and agree to a FAIR CONTRACT NOW.
