Performance by John Whiteside
John Whiteside is Music Director and Carillonneur at St. Stephen’s Church in Cohasset, Massachusetts. He holds the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from Boston University, and has studied with J. Julius Baird, Anton Heiller, Max Miller, and the late Robert Shaw. In addition to serving as Music Director in churches in the Boston area, Dr. Whiteside has been featured as a performer as organist in venues throughout the United States, and as carillonneur in New England. He has also served as Dean of the Boston Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and in 1990 was Executive Director of the Guild’s Annual Convention, held that year in Boston. He teaches music, has produced a radio show featuring local organists for WCRB radio, and is noted as a lecturer and presenter in music.
