BURLINGTON SCHOOL CLERICAL WORKERS AND SOTERIA HOUSE STAFF UNIONIZE WITH AFSCME LOCAL 1343 OF THE VERMONT AFL-CIO - UNION YES!
Just 48 hours ago Burlington School clerical workers, at a Labor Board monitored election, unanimously voted to Unionize with AFSCME Local 1343 of the Vermont AFL-CIO. In addition, Soteria House staff, a residential facility also in the Queen's City, also Unionized with 1343 after achieving voluntary recognition from their employer (Pathways Vermont) following all facility workers signing Union cards. Both groups will now move towards bargaining their first Union Contract.
During this time high inflation and economic uncertainty, its clear the workers all across the Green Mountains are coming together to Unionize in order to leverage their collective strength towards fair raises, safe working conditions, job security, and dignity & respect on the job.
The Vermont AFL-CIO congratulates our school clerical & Soteria House workers for forming a Union for once again showing that there is POWER IN THE UNION!
