WINOOSKI CITY WORKERS, AFSCME LOCAL 1343, RATIFY THREE YEAR CBA WITH 7% RAISES/$1000 BONUS YEAR ONE, CPI PLUS 2% STEPS YEARS TWO AND THREE
Today members of AFSCME Local 1343 of the VT AFL-CIO, Winooski City workers, ratified a solid new Union Contract. The duration of the Agreement is three years. The new CBA, among other things, achieves the following improvements:
* Card Check Union recognition for any group for City workers not yet Unionized (presently the AFSCME represents DPW & Parking Enforcement);
* Year one raise (steps and cola combined) of 7%;
* $1000 year one ratification bonus for all;
* Year two & three raise of CPI plus a 2% step each year;
* $1000 annual bonus for senior workers off the pay grid;
* .50 cents an hour for holding a pool certification;
* On-call pay rises to $350 a week for Highway Department (up from $225);
* On-call pay rises to $280 a week for Wastewater Department (up from $175);
* Uniform pay goes up to $1000 per year (up from $750);
* Parking Enforcement workers to receive an additional $1 an hour when training a new employee.
The Vermont AFL-CIO congratulates Union Chapter Chair Brian Line, Bargaining Team members Tenzing Nehsang & Jason Benjamin, and the Winooski members of Local 1343 for winning a fine Contract and once again showing THERE IS POWER IN THE UNION.
