Tuesday, August 23 from 5:30 – 7:00pm at Manchester Community Library
Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes economist Peter Radford to talk about machinery and its myriad impacts on our lives. The entire industrial era has been characterized by the emergence of various technologies that have shaped our lives, our society, our politics, and our economy. This sort of total upheaval has few, in any, precedents in history, and we are living every day with the consequences. We both accept technology and the prosperity it has brought, and we abhor its impact on what we perceive as traditional modes of life. How did this all happen? Why and where did it begin? And where is it headed? From the steam engine to artificial intelligence this talk will take stock of our relationship with technology. Registration for the talk is $18 per person in advance, or $22 per person at the door. For more information or to register, please call 802-867-0111 or visit our website at greenmtnacademy.org.
