ACTION ALERT: DEMAND A FAIR CONTRACT NOW FOR UVM PART TIME FACULTY!
The United Academics (AFT 3203) part time faculty bargaining team has been negotiating with the University of Vermont (Burlington) administration since late January, and progress has been extremely slow.
Part-time faculty at UVM continue to go without raises during this time of high inflation, and currently have no parental leave, no employer retirement contributions, and cannot transfer earned tuition credits to dependents. Additionally, recent academic reorganizations threaten the informal aspects of job security many have relied upon, despite an earlier contractual agreement offering longer appointments for those with seniority.
Now, eight months into negotiations, we are calling on the UVM administration to settle a fair contract now with respectful wages and benefits for part-time faculty, and job security for long-serving Lecturers. United Academics & the Vermont AFL-CIO is therefore calling on Union members (and allies) to write a letter to UVM President Garimella and the Board of Trustees demanding that they reach a fair contract now!
