January is National Mentoring Month. 

People helping people is what United Way is all about and we believe mentors play an essential role in creating the community we all want to live in. 

Have you thought about being a mentor? Here are just a few local opportunities you might consider checking out 

United Way's Foster Grandparent Program matches Vermonters ages 55+ with children in local schools to serve as tutors, mentors and friends. Learn more: UnitedWayNWVT.org/foster-grandparents

Franklin County Caring Communities, which focuses on preventing and reducing substance abuse in youth and young adults, pairs adults with youth in the community to form positive, caring relationships. Learn more: Franklin County Caring Communities 

Grand Isle Mentoring is a school-based mentoring program that matches community children with adults who have similar interests. Learn more: Grand Isle County Mentoring Program
