School board members nationwide consider student mental health the most pressing issue facing schools and students today, according to a new national survey of school board members commissioned by Mental Health First Aid USA,  a course that teaches individuals how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental illnesses and substance use disorders in their friends and neighbors.

These rising concerns are why our Mental Health Initiative's Youth Mental Health Action Team is committed to addressing the issues that negatively affect kids’ and families’ mental health and wellbeing. The initiative has already more than doubled the number of certified Mental Health First Aid trainers in VT.
