SPRINGFIELD LIBRARY WORKERS OF AFSCME LOCAL 3797 RATIFY FIVE YEAR COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH 18% RAISES & UNION POWER!
The Vermont AFL-CIO is happy to report that today members of AFSCME Local 3797, Springfield Town Library employees, have ratified a new five year Collective Bargaining Agreement which includes the following improvements
* 18% raises over five years;
* January 1, 2023 (retro) = 4%
* January 1, 2024 = 4%
* January 1, 2025 = 4%
* January 1, 2026 = 3%
* January 1, 2027 = 3%
* $500 ratification bonus;
* Healthcare opt-out payment increases from $1500 to $2000 a year;
* Town shall abide by the American Library Association Bill of Rights & guidelines;
* Right to have a Labor Management Committee established;
* Right to strike after expiration of Agreement returns (old CBA language sought to curtail the right to strike even after CBA expired);
* No Union member can become a scab (and not pay dues) unless they resign ONLY during the 30 day window prior to expiration of CBA;
The Vermont AFL-CIO congratulates Chapter Chair Tammy Gould and Steward Chris Bloomfield, and Local 3797 members for securing another solid Union contract and once again showing THERE IS POWER IN THE UNION!
