Vermont State Labor Council AFL-CIO issued the following announcement on April 11.

VERMONT HOMECARE PROVIDERS OF AFSCME LOCAL 4802 WIN WAGE INCREASES AND $6500 IN BONUSES IN NEW CONTRACT!
The 7000+ Vermont Homecare Providers organized into AFSCME Local 4802 of the VT AFL-CIO have ratified a new two year collective bargaining agreement with the state which includes the following:
* $5500 in bonuses year one (for full time, less for part time);
* $1000 bonus year two (for those working 1000+ hours a year, $500 for those who worked at least 500 hours but less than 1000);
* 5% increase to minimum rate of pay year one;
* 4.5% increase to minimum rate of pay year two;

Vermont Homecare Providers did essential work during the darkest hours of the COVID-19 pandemic (and continue to to this day). Thus the Vermont AFL-CIO is pleased to see these Union workers get their due. Congratulations to the Local 4802 bargaining team and members for winning a solid new Union contract and for once again showing that THERE IS POWER IN THE UNION.
